Quickstart

# Your first alert in four steps

Create an account, connect monitoring and a phone, then test delivery.

[Start in the cloud](https://app.acktide.com/signup)

[Install on your server](https://acktide.com/en/free.html)

- ## Open the web console

For Cloud, sign up. For your own infrastructure, install [Acktide Free](https://acktide.com/en/free.html) and follow the instructions to create an administrator.

- ## Connect monitoring

Create a source in the console and add its webhook URL to your monitoring system. Set up an Acktide route to specify who receives the alerts.

- ## Connect your phone

Install the [Android app](https://app.acktide.com/downloads/acktide-latest.apk). In the console, open Settings → Connect Android, scan the QR code and open Acktide. Check the server address, tap Connect phone, and allow notifications and background operation.

For a self-hosted installation, [the phone must be able to reach the server’s HTTPS address](https://acktide.com/en/free.html#https).

- ## Send a test alert

Lock your phone and check the notification. Tap ACK; your name should appear in the console. When the service recovers, your monitoring system should send a resolved event to close the alert.
